Why is ABPM necessary?
ABPM is recommended for patients who have high blood pressure or who are suspected of having white coat hypertension. It helps to diagnose and monitor these conditions and can provide valuable information for personalised treatment.
How long do I have to be in the clinic for?
You will only need to visit the clinic for a short time to have the ABPM device fitted. The fitting usually takes around 15 minutes and involves placing the blood pressure cuff around your upper arm and connecting the monitor.
What should I expect during the ABPM test?
You will be able to carry on with your daily activities as normal while wearing the monitor for the next 24 hours. You must avoid taking a bath or shower while wearing the monitor as it is not waterproof. After the 24-hour monitoring period, you will need to return to the clinic to have the device removed and the results analyzed.
How are the results of the ABPM test interpreted?
After the 24-hour monitoring period, the recorded data is analyzed by our team who will interpret the results and provide personalized care and appropriate treatment options based on the findings.
